Redefining the Meaning of a BurdenLifting the Burden began with a single word: burden.
It was something Eric Wyatt’s mother said during her battle with lung cancer— “I feel like a burden.” That phrase stayed with him. It weighed heavy. And in the aftermath of her passing, it became the spark for something new. Eric chose to redefine that word. He created a teddy bear-focused nonprofit initiative that symbolizes the emotional weight people carry through trauma, grief, illness, and hardship. A bear that quietly but powerfully says, You are not a burden. You are seen. You are loved. You are not alone. |
What We Do
We provide soft, high-quality 10” plush teddy bears, called comfort bears, to hospitals, nonprofits, shelters, and community organizations that serve vulnerable children, adults, and families. Each bear offers more than physical comfort; it delivers emotional presence in moments that are often isolating and painful.
Our bears are not toys. They’re tools for healing. For reminding someone in crisis that their emotions are valid, their story matters, and they don’t have to carry their burden alone.

Who We ServeLifting the Burden focuses on reaching individuals who are often overlooked in the emotional care space.
